Los Alamitos is one of the smallest towns in Orange County with a population of under 15,000 and a total land area of just over four square miles. The first subdivisions in Los Alamitos were Carrier Row, Los Alamitos Terrace, Dutch Haven, The Rossmoor Highlands, Suburbia, New Dutch Haven, Greenbrook and College Park North. The Navy was a major employer contributing to the demand for homes in Los Alamitos. Now the base is used as a reserve support center our military. It is also home to Homeland Security, FEMA and the State of California Office of Emergency Services.
